Bony Fishes

The following gallery presents the bony fish that are commonly caught in association with tuna schools. Each species’ common name and FAO code are given. The FAO identification code is a universal three-letter abbreviation that is often used by observer programs. Generally, these species’ stocks are considered to be healthy and they do not require special handling or extra record-keeping. In addition to these, other species may be encountered, and it is recommended that a more comprehensive guide is kept for reference while on board.
