Light Equipment Such as Stretcher, Fabric, Sarria or Cargo Net
If the shark can’t be released manually right away from the brailer, use a cradle-like tool — such as a canvas, stretcher, sarria, or cargo net — to handle it safely and avoid injury.
While the shark is on deck, keep it wet and in the shade, and, if possible, help it breathe by gently placing a water hose in its mouth. All vessels must carry a net carrier, stretcher, or canvas, along with the brailer, to help safely handle sharks when they’re found on deck.
